Good morning, everyone!
You wouldn't believe it, but I'm not a morning person. I'm not even close to a morning person, but these days, I find that I'm enjoying them. I'm lucky to have the best partner in the world (the man beside the woman, helping with all the background business things that you guys don't get to see), who wakes me up in the morning (often times with my coffee in hand) and allows me to mosey into my morning. We sit together on the balcony with our coffee and catch up on what's to come that day and attempt to guess where Mr. Squirrel might build the next addition to his little squirrel abode. He walks the dogs...I make them breakfast...and then he's off to work and I'm off to a 'now, full-time' business. This could include any number of things - this morning - I ran to the grocery around 8:00AM, came home and put a roast with potatoes and carrots in the crock pot (I am SOOOO from the Midwest! lol), and then took a phone call from a lady who talked to me about a upcoming, volunteer opportunity. It also included writing this blog...and then thinking I was publishing it - but I was actually deleting it. So, here we go again! So far, every morning has been a little different, as I develop a morning routine with my business - I'll get there. Progress - not perfection - right?
Speaking of morning routines, Tuesday morning was kind of busy. I ran out around 830AM to pick up a few last-minute props (that I'd thought of overnight) that I needed to shoot the teasers for our upcoming mini sessions. I knew I needed a HUGE box and headed over to buy one. I got to the store and was happy to find a box that would work, but I was going to need to cut it. I asked the guy at the counter if he had a box cutter, which he didn't, but he thought it was a great idea for him to have one up there. LOL So, I thought I'd just stop by the local drug store to pick up a box cutter, which I did, and then drove to the location for the session. I had a few minutes before my models arrived, so I started setting things up, pulled the box out of the back of my car, and then went for the box cutter. When I opened the package, I discovered that I needed a screwdriver to get into the the cutter, to get the blades out. So...I rummaged through my center console hoping to find one there. Success! I found one, got the blade out and starting cutting into a box in a parking lot of a nearby park. Yes, I was the crazy lady in the parking lot with a box cutter and a wardrobe box if you happened to be in the Valley Park area on Tuesday morning.
You know, I often hear other photographers talk about forgetting their memory cards or their batteries for their cameras and having to leave a shoot to run to get them. Well, after I got everything set up, I was patiently waiting for my models to arrive, and realized...that not only had I forgot my memory cards and batteries - I had left me entire camera bag on my kitchen counter...which was of course, at home. Dun dun dun! Listen people, if I ever show up to your session without my camera bag...your session is free - it just is. LOL Thankfully, the session location was close to my home, so I was able to run home and pick up my camera bag in under 5 minutes. So...(whew!) we finally got to shoot mini sessions teasers!
I still haven't been able to get rid of all of the fake snow from princess mini sessions! And Oh look! There's where I left my coffee!
