Ellen Winchester (nee Ward)

I am an award-winning, published photographer with a big heart for my community. I have been making photos for about 20 years, and finally decided to make it official and go into business about 11 years ago.

In 11 years, I’ve shot everything from family portraits to boudoir and landscape. These days, I’m seeking mostly to shoot meaningful, expressive art - whether through portraiture, volunteer work or otherwise. I bring the skills not only of a seasoned photographer, but also of an photo editing expert. I’m am especially passionate about life transformations and evoking emotion with my work.

My first many years in Missouri were spent in Kirkwood and in the Fall of 2019, I moved to Washington, MO. Folks in this area may not know me, but it’s likely that they’ve seen my work in a few places. I live here with my husband Bryon and our two beautiful dogs: Jersey (14-year old German Shepherd mix) and Wexford (a 3-year old Labradoodle). I’ve grown to love Washington immensely - I appreciate the quiet and the small-town feel.

I’m an introvert who loves people.

I grew up all over the world as a result of my father's career in the U.S. Air Force/NATO and I appreciate people of all different backgrounds. Everyone is welcome in my business - without judgement or question.

For me, and in my business, I believe that:

  • Black Lives Matter

  • Love is love

  • Women's right are human rights

  • No human is illegal

  • Science is real

  • Water is life

  • Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere

I love foreign food both cooking it and eating it...Greek and Turkish are my favorites.

When I'm not behind a camera or computer - I enjoy meditating, hiking, traveling, writing, cooking with Bryon, walking/running with the pups, and drinking coffee (my multiple coffee makers are a source of jokes among my friends). I also work full time in Tech Comm, leading a team for a global FinTech - and I love it!
